OVC Commemorates the 20th Anniversary of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act

On October 28, 2000, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act was signed into law. This landmark legislation recognized the importance of protecting victims, holding traffickers criminally accountable, and preventing victimization from occurring in the first place.

In the 20 years since the Act was signed into law, programming through the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) has grown significantly and OVC is now the largest federal funder of services for human trafficking victims in the U.S.

As part of our commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, OVC announces the opening of the Represent Resilience Virtual Gallery to feature original artwork by survivors, advocates, and anti-trafficking professionals from across the country and the launch of the Human Trafficking Capacity Building Center website.

Watch the video message from Director Jessica E. Hart to learn more about OVC’s response efforts to human trafficking and how we’re commemorating this important anniversary.
